The “Cougar Town” Penny Can phone is still active, and several members of the cast and crew are active on Twitter. On Wednesday (April 27), Laurie Keller will join them.

In Wednesday’s episode, Laurie — not to be confused with the actress who plays her, Busy Philipps — will discuss her Twitter feed, @thelarmy (for The Laurie’s Army). It’s active now, and will get a lot more active once Wednesday’s episode airs.

“Within the show, the character is tweeting to her followers constantly,” “Cougar Town” co-creator Bill Lawrence tells Zap2it. “She says her followers want 24 hours of constant contact, so we’re going to be [updating] for like 24 straight hours when the show comes on.”

As of this post, Philipps herself was not following Laurie, thereby avoiding the possibility of real and fictional worlds collapsing on one another and, possibly, the end of civilization.

It was wine, a little vodka and penny cans tonight at the Leonard H. Goldstein Theatre as the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences presented “An Evening With ‘Cougar Town.’” Cast members Courteney Cox, Busy Philipps, Josh Hopkins, Ian Gomez, Christa Miller, Dan Byrd and Bryan Van Holt were joined by Executive Producer/Creator Bill Lawrence and Supervising Producer/Director Michael McDonald and all often broke into laughter as they talked about the hit ABC series and the fun times they have working together. Our Jim Halterman was on the red carpet during the arrivals to talk to cast and crew about who is better at playing penny can and what is to come in the remaining episodes of the second season.

Finally, after more than 2 months, we got a brand new episode of “Cougar Town” tonight! Its great to see the show back and there’s another episode airing on the show’s regular time slot this Wednesday at 9:30pm! It’s Cougar Town Wednesday here at Vulture, where the writers and actors of ABC’s on-vacation comedy put on a show just for you. Today’s installment of their Writers vs. Actors series is an Inception-like nesting doll of a standoff, with grievances appearing within grievances. It begins with a profanity-spewing Busy Philipps complaining that the writers always deliver their scripts late, but then spins off into an entirely different bonus beef.
